Expedition Down

In the 70's expert adventurers needed better cold weather gear. Down was the fiber, but prototypes were not as warm as Åke imagined. Then the unusual but good idea: If one jacket isn't warm enough, why not use two? When sewn together the space between the jackets trapped warm air and made the jacket warmer. Trials with a group of Swedes on a Himalayan expedition in 1973 and our own testing in the North of Sweden delivered positive results. With another expedition completed in 1974 the jacket was finally ready for sale to the public.

Many have tried to copy the Expedition Down Jacket over the years. In the early 2000's the Swedish Supreme Court ruled that the Expedition Down Jackets is so original that its design merits copyright protection and should be classified as a work of art.
